Leslie Singleton has taught First Aid in the military over a number of years. I get great satisfaction in enabling individuals to deal with difficult circumstances, sometimes with limited resources. During operational service my confidence and skills developed enabling me to train as a Battlefield First Aid instructor.
After 32 years military service I worked for Eaton Ltd in a variety of roles before deciding to start up my own training company in 2013. As a part of this process I went back to school to obtain the necessary qualification to enable me to teach in a civilian environment. In June 2014 the time was right for my company to go full time and I left Eaton Ltd for the last time.
I believe that good training comes with planning and an ability to adapt to an ever changing environment, as well as the current skill level of the individual. Training needs to be fun, interactive, worthwhile and relevant to the business that individuals represent. All my courses are tailored to fulfil these requirements and contain realistic situations that individuals may experience wherever they may be.
I am continuing to develop my skills and qualifications gaining more knowledge as part of my continuing professional development (CPD). These have included mass casualty training day in Warrington, workshops on the latest developments in First Aid training and completion of an FPOSi course in August 2016.
I am also an Open Water Instructor for Sub Aqua Diving and have been involved in teaching for the last ten years, in classrooms, swimming pools and open water. Being involved in trips both at home and abroad, sometimes in remote locations has given me the ability to plan, execute and deal with most “what if” situations.
This year I aim to train as a Community First Responder as this will help develop my clinical skills further as well as give something back to my local area. My long term aims are to work abroad as a volunteer either building something or training for those individuals who are less fortunate than us.
